Macroom Golf Club
Macroom Golf Club is a beautiful parkland course, located on the meandering banks of the River Sullane in the grounds of Macroom Castle, 25 miles west of Cork.
The course was established way back in 1924 and the Kerry Mountains create a magnificent backdrop on the west for impressive golf course.
Strategically placed bunkers and mature trees on the 5,574 yard course offer a diverse and taxing challenge for all golfers.
The 12th is a characteristic hole with a menacing 50 yard hit over the river to the green and the back nine holes are very enjoyable with greens positioned in a way to make sure that you choose your clubs well.
The course ambles along River Sullane, which comes into play on four holes. You have to be careful as a number of good scores have been drowned in the Sullane.
There is a tranquil beauty radiating from the course, this can also be felt in the new clubhouse which offers great meals and snacks for after the round.
