Old Head Golf links
Old Head Golf Links is a magnificent links course which is unrivalled in its beauty and is located just about 25 miles south of Kinsale in County Cork.
Dreamt by John and Patrick O’Connor, the Club has grown into one of the best recognized and sought after golf experiences. It still leads as one of the best in the world of golf.
Old Head Golf Links is designed on a 220 acre land, stretching out almost two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. The outcrop is like an island with a number of caves just under your feet as you enjoy a game of golf on the course.
The links and practice area is built on about 180 acres and the rest is left as it was which even rises at places to over 300 feet and encircles the course beautifully.
Old Head Golf Links is a par 72 and made up of five Par 5s, five Par 3s and eight Par 4s – extending to more than 7,200 yards from the back tees.
Nine of the holes play next to the cliff tops, and all the eighteen holes offer spectacular panorama views of the vast ocean.
It can be testing for the experienced golfers and higher handicaps with the sea breeze changing direction all the time.
