The Island Golf Club

The Island Golf Club is one of Ireland's foremost link courses and was established in 1890. Just a few minutes drive from Dublin Airport, this Championship Links Course is situated across the estuary from Malahide.

It is encircled by the sea on three sides and enjoys a very exceptional setting. You won’t believe it, but until recent times you would have to take a boat from Malahide across the estuary to reach the club.

The 18 hole, 71 par course has been redesigned with the help of Fred Hawtree, Eddie Hackett and Martin Hawtree has also worked on the improvement in the last few years.

The new design improvements guarantee that the accurate nature and the temperament of the links are enhanced.

The Island Golf Club was a qualifying course of the Open Championship in 2005.

The 6th hole is played from the highest tee on the links, and you will have to negotiate three bunkers on the way. There are two pot bunkers on the right side with a fairway bunker under the sand dune on the left. This even challenges the long hitters to drive to the green.
