Carton House Golf Club
Carton House Golf Club is situated about 14 miles west of Dublin city and is a 30 minute drive from Dublin International Airport. The club is unique as it has an inland links style course Montgomerie course with a conservative parkland course O'Meara course.
Both these golf courses are among some of Ireland's most acclaimed courses. Events like the AIB Irish Amateur Open Championship and the Nissan Irish Open have been hosted by these two championship courses.
No doubt both the courses are very different in their style and nature but offer a tough challenge for golfers of all skills.
With its rolling greens and water hazard of the meandering River Rye, O’Meara is a testing challenge for the golfers.
Montgomerie is equally extraordinary with its tight fairways and speedy greens.
There are numerous eye catching trees on the estate, but the course is barren looking, with gleaming fescue grasses segregating the quicksilver fairways.
You will find brilliant mix of holes with some very long par fours backed by risky short ones.
Golfers have to face the strategically placed bunkers which promote tactical play and makes golf more captivating.
Carton House golf club hosted the Nissan Irish open in 2005 and 2006 and received the ‘golf resort of the year Europe 2008’ and ‘Best New Golf Course Design 2004’ by Golf World magazine.
