Portarlington Golf Club

Portarlington Golf Club is an Eddie Hackett designed course in the Irish midlands along the banks of the River Barrow on the Laois / Offaly border.

You will see numerous lush trees, natural lakes and rivers flowing through the golf course. A number of holes have been cut through existing forest to make the course more challenging.

The tee shot on 18th hole has been compared to threading a needle, as the gap here is just around 20 meters to hit the shot from the tee to land on the fairway. There is thick foliage down on the right where you can easily lose sight of the ball.

The green here is a very tiny square target which has a bunker on the left and another on the front right.

The 9 th hole is a well defined dogleg, which makes it tough to conquer. You have to be a strong and a long hitter to be able to cross tall mature trees which are on the right.
