The Heath Portalaoise Golf Club

The Heath Portalaoise Golf Club is spread over open heath land and is sometimes referred to as “inland links” course. But make no mistake; this course is as challenging as a seaside links course.

The furze gorse and the three lakes are part of the natural surroundings on which the course is built.

Ireland Golf Courses

The start of your round may look easy with the short par 5 which is reachable in two shots for a long hitter and there are two more par 5s which are also relatively short.

Both the front nine and the back nine start with dogleg holes. However, the most difficult dog leg is reserved for the last hole which requires great accuracy off the tee.

The fairways are generally wide although there are tees on a few of the holes. But don’t push your luck too far as a wild drive may go out of bounds.

This an enjoyable course but tricky on a windy day.
