Carne Golf Club

Carne Golf Club Carne Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course situated in marvelous towering sand dunes on the Atlantic coast of Mayo overlooking Blacksod Bay, Achill, Inis Geidhe, and the Inis Gluaire islands.

It was the last golf course designed by Eddie Hackett and believed to be his greatest achievement.

The ever present mischievous Atlantic winds, rugged dunes and snaking fairways, several blind and elevated greens some guarded by dunes and the sea are challenges to be met and conquered.

It is one of the finest in Ireland if not in the world and Golf World featured it in November 1994 as one of the top ten new developments in the British Isles
The golf course was built with little disturbance to the scenic environment that surrounds it.

Going to Carne is great and like traveling back to time as even today, most of the residents speak Gaelic.

Carne golf club has four holes on the back nine were named after the Children of Lir, a famous Irish mythology character.
