Fontanals Golf Course
Fontanals golf course is situated on the northwest corner of Catalonia and is very close to the border of France with amazing surrounding scenery.
The course is designed close to the small town of Soriguerola, which is at about 3,000 feet above sea level and along the river Segre. This region is also known for its skiing facilities. It is around 139 kilometers from Barcelona.
Spanish golf architect Ramon Espinosa designed Fontanals and it opened for play in 1994.
The panorama encircling the golf course has breathtaking view of the Pyrenees and the majestic rocky peaks.
Fontanals is designed a little away from the well known golfing tracks close to the capital and beside the Spanish Costas, but this is worth a visit, especially if you are looking for a brilliant 18 hole parkland golf course.
The course can be a test for all levels of golfers, with water being a part of play on several occasions. There are many bunkers, near the greens as well as the fairways to add to the challenge of the play.
Fontanals golf course has been listed as amongst the top eleven in Europe by the Peugeot Golf guide and this is not surprising.
