Poniente Golf Course is one of Mallorca`s oldest courses and is a favorite for most golfers as it provides a tough but fair test of golfing skills.
Poniente appears to have wide fairways but, with many unsuspecting slopes and large greens which can be quick and tricky at times.
The fairways have the added hazard of being tree lined and the whole course is a quiet natural retreat from the noise of Magaluf only minutes away.
Poniente Golf Course is set within trees, lakes and stunning flora local to the Mediterranean. The Poniente course will be a test of any golfer’s skills, but many comment on the fairness of the course.
The course itself is on the coast of Calvia and it was first constructed in 1978. The Poniente Golf Course was cleverly designed by John Harris and it has become a firm favourite of golfers in Mallorca.
Poniente also boasts some of the most beautiful views to be seen anywhere in Mallorca. The views are especially spectacular on the eighth hole and the sixteenth hole. You may not believe from the tranquil nature of the Poniente Golf Course that you are only a step away from the busy and thriving Magalluf resort in Mallorca.
This course has great wide fairways to play on but don’t be tempted to think that this makes the course any easier! Some of the fairways slope away from you without notice or warning. This of course, all adds to the thrill of playing on this wonderful golf course in Mallorca. Some of the other hazards situated on this course are lines of trees that sit along the fairway.
Many of the holes are beautiful, challenging and among the best on Mallorca. The course is kept to a high standard and the 19th is always full of golfers reflecting on their latest round.

Poniente - the highlight of the week. Friendly and efficient staff. Course had been damaged by recent hurricane (some fallen trees off the fairways) but greens, approaches and fairways could not be faulted. Excellent hospitality. Definite for next visit to Majorca.

Poniente is not the hardest of courses and club selection is the most important. Fairways were generally wide. Some of the tees are far from the greens llok for the markers.

Poniente Golf Course 18 Hole Guide.
Hole 1: This is a fairly straight forward par 4 hole. The tee shot is best played to the middle to right of the fairway for the easiest approach shot to the green. There is a bunker on the right of the fairway and also the front right and back left of the green
Hole 2: This par 5 hole is slightly downhill and 500m of the yellow tees. It is a slight dog leg to the left and the green is protected by three bunkers. There is also a bunker 50m short of the green on the left which you must consider when taking your second shot.
